Marketing and Communications – Remote, Paid, Six-Month Fellowship
You could be our next six-month fellow. We’re looking for someone to drive our marketing and communications efforts. We have the perfect position for anyone looking for their first marketing position. Career changers and non-traditional students are welcome to apply!
During this paid fellowship, you’ll handle many business-critical responsibilities. In addition, you’ll manage our marketing and support for our online community, Leaders of Awesomeness.
You’ll also drive our marketing and support for our online programs, such as our Outcome-Driven UX Metrics, Advanced Strategic UX Research, Craft + Lead A Strategic UX Vision, Stand Out, and our flagship program How to Win Stakeholders & Influence Decisions. They are essential to the business.
You’ll have opportunities to try out ideas in our environment and expand your skills as a marketing professional. You’ll set up, support, and execute the marketing for our online activities that attract thousands of attendees.
You’ll implement our daily marketing initiatives. You’ll create campaigns and apply your strong writing skills to craft our marketing copy. You’ll participate in our marketing and design meetings, contributing your ideas and receiving new assignments that will challenge you.
We’re a leader in user experience design, and everyone expects our communications to model best practices. We’ve cultivated an email audience of 52,000+ subscribers and 280,000+ social media followers. Your keen eye for detail will make us look great. (This is something your future employers will love.)
We will set you up for success. We will have frequent meetings on how to document your work so that you can apply it to your résumé. We’ll help you work on your future job search so you’re ready to jump into your next big thing when your six months with us are over.
From day one, we will encourage and value your input and ideas.
That’s just the first three months.
You’ll be busy mastering every facet of marketing production for the first three months. However, things take off during the second half of the six-month fellowship.
We’ll work with you to identify projects that further our marketing efforts. These efforts are where you’ll learn the skills you need to be successful at your next job. You’ll also work with us to document these projects, including the processes, checklists, and tasks you helped develop.
You’ll take these projects from definition through delivery. And, when your six months are up, you can share with every potential employer how you made these projects happen. Your accomplishments will go into your résumé or portfolio.
This is a launching pad for your marketing career.
You’ll see how our business runs. You’ll help us identify new marketing opportunities, craft copy and graphics, and launch and support our campaigns.
You’ll learn about the hiring process because we want to bring in our next fellow, who will take over for your position. You’ll teach that new fellow what you’ve learned (and you’ll learn new things in the teaching process).
When you’re ready to find your next job, you can proudly talk about everything you’ve learned and how quickly you picked it up. Savvy hiring managers are looking for fast learners.
This is a real, paying job.
You’ll be an integral part of the team. And we’ll pay you a working wage of $17.50/hour. We work 40 hours most weeks, which comes to about $700 a week. We also give you paid holidays and five days of paid time off.
We will provide you with a laptop and the software you need to do your work.
It’s a remote position, so you can be anywhere. However, we conduct our work from 8:30am to 5:00pm Eastern Time in the U.S. You need to work those hours to meet our deadlines and quick-turnaround assignments.
You need to be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or have permission to work in the U.S. Because this is a temporary position, we can’t offer any full-time benefits, like health insurance.
We need someone just like you.
We mean it when we say Center Centre is an equal opportunity employer.
We constantly strive to build a team that reflects the people we serve and a workplace that nurtures and empowers unique identities and experiences. We are committed to advancing equity in a tech industry that has often fallen short.
We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC (Black; Indigenous; People of Color), women, LGBTQ+, and other underrepresented individuals in the tech industry, across color, religion, race, ethnic and national origin, physical ability, economic background, gender, and sexual identity. Do you think of yourself as any of these? We want to meet you.
Want this Fellowship? We need to talk.
We’re looking for several fellows right now—one to start immediately and one to start in the next few months.
The interview process involves meeting with our current fellow and several others on our team. We’ll ask many questions about what you’ve learned and how you learned it. After all, this is a learning job, and you have to be good at learning new things.
There are no “gotcha” questions or on-the-spot exercises. We care about your skills. We may ask you for some writing samples or for you to complete a small project so we can see how you tackle challenges. (We’ll only do that after we’ve gotten to know each other a bit, so you can decide whether it’s worth your efforts.)
We’re ready to meet you. Are you ready to meet us?
Click to learn more about the fellowship and apply if you think it’s a great opportunity. We’ll get back to you quickly. We’ll hop on a call and start the process if you’re what we’re looking for.
How does that sound?
